Chamblee HS Sharpshooter Ryan McCord Commits to Case Western Reserve University

CHAMBLEE, GA — Case Western Reserve University has secured a commitment from Ryan McCord, a 6’3 guard  from Chamblee High School (GA) and a standout with AE5 3SSB/DFTW Gold. One of the most dangerous shooters in the region, Ryan brings elite shot-making and high-level feel—plus an underrated burst and quickness that should keep trending upward as he steps into the UAA, widely regarded as one of the top Division III conferences in the country. A high-academic prospect (4.4 GPA, 35 ACT), McCord chose Case Western after drawing interest from high-academic programs nationwide, including top schools across the UAA and NESCAC.

A Dead-Eye Shooter Who Doesn’t Need Space

Ryan is a pure shooter with deep range and a quick release, capable of knocking down threes off the catch and on the move. He moves exceptionally well without the ball, constantly creating separation, and does a great job setting his feet and rising on balance after hard cuts—allowing him to get clean looks in tight windows. His shot versatility makes him a constant threat from beyond the arc and a piece defenses have to game-plan for immediately.

Underrated Athleticism, Strength Gains, and Two-Way IQ

While his shooting grabs headlines, Ryan’s athleticism and quickness are a real separator—and an area that should continue to shine at the next level. His strength has noticeably improved over the last year, helping him absorb contact on drives and finish through it with more consistency. Defensively, he brings a strong understanding of team concepts, positioning, and rotations—an IQ-driven presence who impacts winning beyond the box score.

National Exposure Through Real Hoops

Ryan’s growth and recruiting process accelerated through his work with Real Hoops, where he fully embraced detailed film study and approached development like a true student of the game. By consistently breaking down reads, spacing, and decision-making, he made steady improvements in how he processes the game offensively and defensively—turning preparation into production and sharpening the tools that translate to winning in the UAA.

Real Hoops CEO Kevin Driscoll on McCord’s Commitment

“Ryan is a coach’s dream because the skill is obvious, but the approach is even better—he’s a true student of the game,” said Kevin Driscoll, CEO of Real Hoops. “He’s an elite shooter with underrated quickness, and the way he attacked film study and made real improvements in his reads shows exactly why high-academic programs across the country were on him. Case Western is getting a winner who’s ready for the UAA.”

A Major Addition for Case Western Reserve

Ryan gives Case Western a high-IQ guard who can stretch the floor immediately and punish defenses with movement shooting and quick-trigger range. His strength gains and athleticism add another layer to his scoring, especially when defenders run him off the line. With his two-way awareness and commitment to preparation, he projects as the kind of reliable, efficient contributor who can impact winning early in his college career.
