Lake Highland Prep Standout Shiva Atwal Commits to Gannon University

ERIE, PA — Gannon University Men’s Basketball has landed a major commitment from Shiva Atwal, a 6’5” combo guard from Lake Highland Prep. A strong, athletic left-handed guard with high-level shooting ability, Atwal brings three-level scoring, playmaking, and defensive versatility to one of the premier programs in Division II basketball.

Atwal joins a Gannon program coming off a national championship season and one with a proud NCAA Tournament tradition, including 26 NCAA Tournament appearances and six Elite Eight runs.

A High-Level Shooter with a Quick Release

Atwal’s shooting ability immediately stands out. As a lefty with a simple, compact release, he can get his shot off quickly and efficiently, even in tight spaces. His range and confidence from beyond the arc make him a constant threat, while his ability to score from all three levels gives him the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways.

Strength, Athleticism, and Playmaking Versatility

Beyond his shooting, Atwal brings a strong frame, athleticism, and the ability to get downhill. He has a polished spin move, especially when attacking back to his left, and he uses his body well to create space and finish through contact. His passing ability also adds another layer to his game, giving Gannon a guard who can score, create, and make the right play.

National Exposure Through Real Hoops

Throughout the recruiting process, Atwal worked with Real Hoops to receive guidance, exposure, and support as he navigated his college options. Real Hoops CEO Kevin Driscoll helped provide advice throughout the process as Atwal evaluated the best fit for his future.

“Shiva is a talented, hard-working guard with a skill set that translates very well to the college level,” said Kevin Driscoll, CEO of Real Hoops. “His ability to shoot the ball, defend multiple positions, and impact the game with his strength and athleticism makes him a great addition for Gannon. We’re excited for him and his family as he joins one of the top programs in Division II basketball.”

A Major Addition for Gannon

Atwal gives Gannon a versatile backcourt piece with size, shooting, and two-way upside. His ability to defend multiple positions while providing perimeter shooting, playmaking, and downhill scoring makes him a strong fit for the Golden Knights’ championship-level program.

Real Hoops congratulates Shiva Atwal and his family on his commitment to Gannon University and the start of an exciting next chapter.
